Generation X is in its peak earning and buying power years, and the average Gen Xer household outspends both the Millennial and Baby Boomer generations.

Sandwiched between Baby Boomers and Millennials, Generation X is made up of those born between 1965 and 1980 (which makes them between 36 and 51 years of age in 2016). Despite representing 36% of the U.S. population, Gen X is often overlooked by marketers because it is not as sizable or extroverted as other generations.
